What is your relationship with your body? What comes to mind when you look at your body in the mirror? We all have flaws and imperfections, how do you view yours?
Today’s topic is really important and I think something that needs to be taught in school. It needs to be learnt by us when we are little children.
Today’s story is about loving your body. This is a real story about a client of mine, let’s just call her “Apple!” So, Apple had issues with some parts of her body. She did not like how the fat around her abdomen looked. She just did not like it at all. She would constantly say, “I think I would look so pretty only if I wasn’t so fat.” She would constantly complain about the fact that she wants to love herself but she cannot feel any love towards her body because she felt that she was too fat. Especially her abdomen. So we were beginning our work around this, when she suddenly had an appendicitis attack. When Apple had this attack she was hospitalised, there was a surgery to remove the appendix.
She reconnected with me after recovery and I remember that call so clearly. We were connected through a zoom call and she said to me,”Vidisha, I never realised what my stomach was there for.” and I looked at her and said, ”What do you mean?”
Her response was an indication of a radical shift she underwent as a result of this experience. To know what that epiphany was click on the video to listen.
As always do stay on till the end for a mini-meditation and share your feedback in the comments.
