“How you start your day is how you live your day. How you live your day is how you live your life.” – Louise Hay
Such simple yet profound words by Louise Hay and isn’t that what life is anyway – many days put together?
This week I come to you with a very interesting story about a client. Let’s just call her Susan. So Susan had this unique problem- she used to do affirmations, she used to try and think positive, she had things written all over her house which gave her lovely positive messages and she used to meditate every day as well. However, in spite of that, every day, Susan would wake up feeling exhausted as if she had done tons of work the previous night.
As we were working through her customised sessions, we began to connect the different dots. We discovered that there was one really seemingly small reason why this was happening to her. So, I asked her one day, “What do you wake up and do in the morning?” And she gave me a list of things that she did ranging from making tea for everybody to sorting food out for her children to work-related matters. So that is how she was starting her day and that was the key.
I remember saying one sentence to her and she said that this one sentence is all she wanted to take back with her. That one sentence was – “Susan, you’ve been waking up for others and that is exhausting you.” I then asked her, “How about we change this around and you start waking up for yourself?“ What did I mean by that? We all DO wake up for ourselves, don’t we? – isn’t that what you are thinking?
Here’s what was happening with Susan. When she was waking up, she was already thinking of things to do that were not about her. They were not about her receiving energy and she was already spending her energy. She was already giving to people and some systems and was not yet receiving. So we worked out a system through which she would begin receiving and that is something you can do too!
The question to ask yourself is- “Who are you waking up for?” Are you waking up for your children at a particular time, or for your spouse or your work or job or business? Is that what decides what time you will wake up? Or is it you who decides? It is the very act of nourishing yourself and simply receiving so that you have enough and more to give during the day. This one change can change the way you start your day.
So how can you make that small change? Let me tell you how and what you can do starting now. Click below to listen to what happened to Susan after creating a small shift in her mornings.
Do stay on till the end for a mini-meditation and share your feedback in the comments.
